      Navigate to Synbiotix
Enter your username and password and click "Login"
      Select Production Management
Production Management is called "NCIS" in some systems but the functionality is the same
      Click "Administration"
      Click "Items"
      Click "Add Item"

      Add an Ingredient

      Enter the ingredient name
The "Item Name (Labels)" field can be used to enter an alternative name for the item that is used on recipe labels. In this example, we want the labels to show 'Chickpeas', rather than 'Canned Chickpeas 800g'
If you don't fill out the "Item Name (Labels)" field, the system will use the "Item Name" by default
Select the item unit of measure. Typically, this is "PIECE" for items served to patients, and "KILOGRAM" or "LITRE" for ingredients, but there are some exceptions. An example would be sausages, as these are added as a "piece" (a whole sausage) to a recipe
Change the "Is Ingredient" toggle to "YES"
You won't be able to use the item in a recipe if the "Is Ingredient" toggle is set to "NO"
Select the Meal Report Category. This dictates where the ingredient will show in system reports
Select the ingredient storage type. This is a filter that can be used when performing a stock take
      Enter the "Supplier Ingredients"
You don't need to add the supplier ingredients if you are planning on linking the ingredient to the supplier database. Please click here for instructions on how to add supplier information: [https://scribehow.com/shared/Add_Supplier_Information_and_Unit_of_Measures_to_an_Ingredient__a-BvDcL5Quq24vsTPjwotQ](https://scribehow.com/shared/Add_Supplier_Information_and_Unit_of_Measures_to_an_Ingredient__a-BvDcL5Quq24vsTPjwotQ)
Select a location from the drop down to link the item to sites for menu orders
This step is not essential for ingredients, but we recommend assigning to all locations
