Adding an event and submitting a claim

The contractor adds events when he experiences delays. Once an event has been added the contractor can submit a notice of claim and thereafter a claim if he wishes to do so.

Adding an event

Contractors add events when they are delayed. An event is not a contractual action and does not constitute a notice of claim or a claim in itself.

Go to the Events Register by selecting "Events" from the main menu.

Click "add event"

Expand the menu to explore the available event types and choose the most appropriate option for the event you are adding.

Complete the form making sure you choose the contract/package the event relates to from the Location dropdown and select the date you became aware of the event as accurately as possible (this date will be used to calculate time bars). Click "Submit event..." to proceed to the confirmation page.

Enter the password you log in with and click "confirm" to finish adding your event.

Submitting a notice of claim

After an event is added it shows up in the Events Register as shown below. Mouse over the Requirement icon to see by when a notice of claim needs to be submitted if you intend to do so.

If you wish to submit a notice of claim click the event you wish to submit a notice of claim for.

Locate the "EOT / additional payment" panel near the bottom right of the screen and click "perform action..."

Select the option you wish to pursue the click "transmit..." to proceed to the confirmation page.

Be sure to click "preview notice" to download a preview of the claim notice you are about to send.

The preview PDF is only for preview purposes and can be deleted after viewing.

If you are unsatisfied with the notice you can go back to the Event by clicking "back to overview" and then updating the Event. Once done click "perform action..." again to return to the notice of claim.

Once you are satisfied with the notice of claim preview, enter the password you log in with and click "finish"

Submitting a claim

After a notice of claim has been sent for an event the requirement indicates "Claim due" when you mouse over it. If you wish to submit a claim click the Event.

Locate the "EOT / additional payment" panel near the bottom right of the screen and click "perform action..."

Click the link in the prompt to setup your claim.

Complete the form by entering the additional payment you are seeking as well as any extensions of time for sections as well as the overall completion of the works, then click "proceed".

Attach as many files as you like to substantiate your claim (one after another). Click "All done >>" once you are done.

Your claim is now set up and you must return to the "perform action" screen to send it.

If the effects of the event have not ceased submit an interim claim, you will be prompted to send an updated claim 4 weeks later again. If the effects of the event have ceased submit a final claim, the engineer will be asked to respond to your claim hereafter.

Download the claim preview and if you are satisfied enter the password you log in with and click "finish".
