Airtable

Add an extra column to your Airtable base

Type "Cover image"

Select 'Attachment' as the field type

Click "Create field"

Click "AUTOMATIONS"

Click "New automation"

Click "Add trigger"

Click "When record matches conditions"

Click "Select a table"

Click "Journal" (note: the name of your table may be different depending on what you called it).

Click "Add condition"

Click this icon.

Select "bannerbear_image_url" from the dropdown. We're picking this field because this is the field that Bannerbear will send our image URL's. These are what we want to convert into images.

Click "contains"

Select "is not empty" to finish the 'condition'. What this condition essentially means is when records for our 'bannerbear_image_url' are empty don't trigger this automation. But when it isn't empty (i.e. there is a image URL in there), then triggger this automation.

Click "Choose record for testing" - by clicking on this, we're just testing that this 'trigger' works.

Click on the record it presents to you for this test.

Now we're ready to set up the action that results from the trigger we have just set up.

Click "Update record"

Click the "Enter a description" field. This isn't mandatory but is good practice, so that when you return to your automations you have more context on why you set it up in this way. Type "Update URL to Image"

Click "Select a table". To configure this action, Airtable needs to know what Table we want this action to work on. So in our case it will be the same table we picked when setting up our 'Trigger'.

Click "Journal"

Click this icon. Here it is asking us what record do we want to update.

So it'll be the same record from step 1 that we want to update. Click "Continue. ›"

Click "Insert" on Airtable record ID.

Now it's asking us what fields we want to update for this record. So click 'Choose field'

Click "Cover image" - this is the name of the extra column that we created at the start of this tutorial. This is where we want the images to appear.

Click this icon.

Click "Continue ›"

Click "Insert" - this is what we want to update the 'cover image' column with.

Now we can "Generate a preview" to see what will happen from this automation.

You'll be presented with a preview. Once happy, click out of this.

Now we're ready to toggle 'ON' our automation. Go back to the email to finish the final steps of your Bannerbear automation. Your Airtable base is set up now to receive image URL's as they will now be updated to image attachements from this automation we have just made!
