    Sign in into the **Microsoft Azure Portal**

    Type **Cost Management + Billing** in the search bar and click on the **Cost Management + Billing**

    **What is Cost Management + Billing?**\ \ Cost Management + Billing is a suite of tools and services in Azure that help organizations manage and optimize their cloud spending. It provides visibility into usage and costs across Azure services, allowing users to track and analyze spending patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and set budgets and alerts to control expenses.

    **Cost Management + Billing** dashboard will open, click on your email id which is registered with your Azure Account

    **Cost Management + Billing** wizard will open, here you can view all the Essentials for your Azure Account and Bill updates

    Click on the **Cost Management** from the left bar

    **Cost Management Overview** wizard will open, click on the **change** link on the top to change your management group **Note:** If you have previously created a management group, it will be selected by default. If you have other subscriptions active in your Azure account, click on the **change** link to choose a different management group.

    On the right side **Select scope** wizard will open, click on the **Free Trial** link **Note:** You can select any other active subscription in your Azure account that you want to use for accessing cost management and cost analysis.

    Click on the **Select this subscription** button

    **Cost Management: Free Trial** wizard will open, scroll to the **Smart views** section and click on the **Resource groups**

    **Cost analysis** wizard will open, here you can view the total cost for the current active subscription in your azure account

    Click on the **Budgets** from the left bar, here you can view all the budgets and to add a new budget click on the **Add** button on the top left side

    **What are Budgets?**\ \ Budgets in Azure Cost Management + Billing are predefined spending limits that help organizations control and monitor their cloud spending. Users can set up budgets based on specific criteria such as subscription, resource group, or service, and define thresholds for spending amounts or usage metrics.

    **Create budget** wizard will open, scroll to the **Budget Details** section and give Name as "**my-first-budget**"

    Scroll to the **Budget Amount** section, here you can give the Amount as "**1000**" and click on the **Next** button **Note:** You can set the budget amount threshold to any amount you prefer.

    **Set alerts** wizard will open, scroll to the **Alert conditions** section and here you can select the **Type** of Alert you want from the **Type** dropdown

    Scroll to the **Alert recipient (email)** section, here, you can add an alert recipient email to receive notifications when the budget is triggered and the amount threshold is exceeded

    Scroll the page and click on **Create** button
