Creating & Editing Alerts
1
On the menu, click Alerts
2
Click "Manage Alerts/Rules"
3
Depending on your needs, you will either click {+ ADD ALERT} for a new alert or {EDIT} to change an exiting Alert. The process beyond this step will be the same.
4
You may need to Edit/Change these two check boxes\ \ {Enabled} - By default, when creating a new rule, this is On (checked). This determines if the rule is on and tracking. If this is unchecked this rule will be turned off. (This can be a good way to turn off a rule without deleting it entirely.)\ \ {Non-Admin can View} - By default this is Off (unchecked). This allows non-admin users to see and view the rule.
5
Next you will want to name your Alert something that helps you identify what the Alert is tracking.
6
Next, you will want to check the Alert Type. There are quite a few options here to try out. If you have questions about the different types, please reach out to support@geoforce.com
7
You will then want to complete the Alert conditions. Depending on the rule, there may be different options and conditions here. Since we are doing a "Zone Exit" in this example, we will select the Zone(s) that this Alert should track.
8
You will then need to select what assets this rule applies to. You have a few options here:\ \ **Individual Assets -** This will allow you to select each asset this should apply to. This will also need to be updated if you add any assets in the future, you may need to come back into this Alert and add the new Asset. **Groups -** (*recommended*) This will allow you to select the groups you want this rule to apply to. This is a great option to manage the Assets passively as when you move Assets in and out of Groups will either apply or remove the Alert without having to come back in and edit any changes in Assets.\ \ **Entire Company** - This will apply to your all of your assets both now and any future additions to your fleet.
9
For this example, we will use **Groups** and select the groups we want this to apply to.
10
Next you will want to select the schedule. \ **24x7** - This means this will always be on and tracking. **Inside a Schedule** - Will look within the scheduled hours to track the Alert. **Outside a Schedule** - Will look outside the hours you select only to track he Alert.
11
You will also set the Frequency. \ **Alert Frequency** - The minimum amount of time before this Alert can be Triggered again on the same asset. **Notification Frequency** - The minimum amount of time before sending another notification after an alert is triggered for the same asset.
12
You can edit the Alert Subject as well as the Alert Content (Message Body). This will fill automatically based on the Alert Type you selected but you can edit the content and use {+ Insert Token at Cursor} to add auto-fill tokens.
13
You will choose the Severity Level, this will also reflect on the map page to indicate the Severity Level by color.
14
Optional: You will be able to add a contact for the Alert if you would like to receive an Email and/or Text message when the Alert Rule is broken. This can be a single person or a Group/Distribution List. If this is the first time creating an alert you will need to ADD a contact first, otherwise, you will be able to select from the drop down contacts list.
15
You will enter a Name, and at least one email(s) and/or phone number(s).
16
Click {Apply}
Tip! Alert recipients do not need to be users in the Geoforce Ascend platform to get notified of Alerts! You will just need to let them know so they do not get filtered out to Spam.
17
If you already have contacts saved, you will be able to select them from the drop down list or edit contacts you have already created.
18
By default, **Alert Only** will be selected here. Webhooks can also be selected but the require additional setup to function. If you have questions about Webhooks, reach out to support@geoforce.com
19
Once you are ready to complete, click Save.
