Navigate to[Fathom](https://fathom.video/?utm_source=100daysofnocode&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=q4) and follow the sign-up process to create a free account. The sign-up process will require you to enter some of your preferences and prompt you to download the Fathom app to your device.\ \ You'll need to scroll down the page a little before this overlay appears.
    2
Once you've signed up for your account, the best way to learn how to use Fathom is by following the tutorial content that's detailed in your [dashboard](https://fathom.video/home).\ \ Start by watching the 8-minute Fathom demo.
    3
Next, follow the 1-minute self-guided tutorial.
    4
Finally, if you're a Zoom user, you might want to experiment with the 4-minute Test Call. \ \ If you're not a Zoom user, you can skip this step.
    5
If you'd like to **test how Fathom works in your meeting environment before going live with other participants**, you can set up a meeting for yourself in your preferred platform (Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet). \ \ In this example, we'll test how Fathom works using Google Meet (requires a Chrome extension to be installed, which you can find inside "Settings").\ \ Your process will vary slightly depending on your preferred meeting platform.
    6
When you're ready, click "**Start Recording**" via the Fathom overlay.
    7
    Admit Fathom to the meeting.
    8
If prompted to wait for other attendees, you can click "**Skip & Start Recording Now**"
    9
Record yourself speaking to test the labelling and highlighting functionality. \ \ Start by clicking a label, which will start a highlight.
    10
Click "**End Highlight**" to automatically end a highlight (else the highlight will end when the current speaker stops talking).
    11
Repeat this process to test the other labelling, bookmark, action and highlighting options.
    12
When you're finished, click "**End**" within Fathom and end the call within your meeting platform.
    13
You'll know if Fathom has ended it's recording as expecting when the meeting summary information appears (as shown).
    14
Head back to your Fathom dashboard and click on the meeting you just recorded. This will be ready very quickly after you end the call (within 30 seconds for this length of call).
    15
Browse through the meeting information that you recorded including the Summary, Transcript, Annotations and the automatically suggested AI Action Items.\ \ Locate the "**Highlight**" that you recorded, hover over it and click the sharing link icon.
    16
Open a new browser tab, paste your "**Highlight**" link, and you'll see how Fathom has captured the specific part of the meeting that you've highlighted.
    17
That's it for this lesson.\ \ Super easy, super efficient.\ \ Now you can spend less time on manually creating notes, and more time on listening and getting things done! ⚡
