Canvas: How to Customize Navigation Settings in your Course

Navigate to your Canvas instance.

Click on the course you want to manage.

Click "Settings" at the bottom of your Course Navigation Menu

Click "Navigation"

The items in the top section are ones students can see and click on to access those areas of the course or external sites.

Click the 3 dots next to an item to manage it.

Click "Disable" to hide it from student view (this does not remove it from the course, it just hides it from the students). This can be undone at any time.

In the area at the bottom are the sections students are unable to view in the navigation menu. Click the three dots to manage those sections.

Click "Enable" to allow students to view it in their navigation.

You can also click and drag items to rearrange how they are ordered in the navigation menu.

Be sure to click "Save" at the bottom to save your changes.
