Given Values and Values Before and After Weight Loss

The recipe given values control how the cooked ingredients are split into portions.
The given portion size is pre-set with the value added when adding the item. Click here for instructions on how to add an item: <https://scribehow.com/shared/Add_a_Production_Item__Q0T42NKASIqIwYUilvq3dA>
The yield field is pre-set with the number of servings added when adding the recipe. Click here for instructions on how to add a recipe: <https://scribehow.com/shared/Add_a_Recipe__rLzUezCWSuWqIMNjab4K0Q>
The system gives estimated portion weight for the recipe. This figure is calculated by dividing the total weight of ingredients after weight loss by the yield. In this example, our estimated portion weight is 600 grams.\ 5\.95 kg (total weight after weight loss) / 10 (yield) = 600 grams (rounded up)
The system generates estimated number of portions both before and after weight loss. This figure is calculated by dividing the total weight of ingredients by the given portion size. In this example, our estimated number of portions is 59 both before and after weight loss.\ 5\.95 kg (total weight of ingredients) ÷ 0.01 kg (given portion size) = 59 portions
The system shows the total weight of ingredients both before and after weight loss.\ \ In this example, the total weight of ingredients before weight loss is 5.95 kg, and the total weight of ingredients after weight loss is also 5.95 kg
Ingredients typically weigh less after cooking because of factors like water loss, evaporation, and gas release. Some items, like pasta and rice, weigh more after cooking, however if water is included in the ingredients list this will be taken into account. To get the correct post-cooking ingredient weight and recipe yield, we need to adjust the recipe for the weight lost during cooking.
When applying changes to portion sizes, yield and weight change, our end goal is to match the given portion size to the estimated portion weight, and the yield to the estimated portions after weight loss
