    Click on 'Settings' the gear icon at the top right

    On the left-hand side, below Data Management > Click "Properties"

    Navigate to [https://app.hubspot.com/property-settings/5004810/properties?type=0-1&action=create](https://app.hubspot.com/property-settings/5004810/properties?type=0-1&action=create)

    Make sure the right object type is selected from the dropdown

    For this example > Click "Contact properties"

    Click to "Create property"

    From the window that appears on the right, click the "Select group" dropdown to choose what property category this will fall under.

    Type into 'Label' what you would like to call this property

    Once named > Click "Next"

    Click the dropdown to "Select field type"

    As birthday will be a date selection > Click to Choose "Date picker"

    Finally, Click to "Create" this will now live on the contact record
