Reports can be generated from multiple starting points. \
\
Some of the most common starting places to create a report are:
1. Report Manager
2. My List
3. Standard Report Type
4. Dashboard
For our full collection of guides on reporting, including how to customize reports or generate a specific report, see the course [Reporting](https://clctoolbox.thinkific.com/courses/reporting).
From Report Manager
1
Search and select REPORT MANAGER in the lefthand search bar.
The Report Manager has a list of options designed to make navigation faster for users but it can be overwhelming when you are new to using reports. \
\
Hover over each option to see a brief description of each.
2
Click DEFAULT TEMPLATES to see a list of all standard report templates.
3
Use the drop-down labelled ALL TYPES to filter for specific report categories.\
\
For example, filter for reports related to "Fundraising", "Contributions", "Contacts", "Online Actions", etc.
4
Click on the title of a report to generate it.
Some reports may request additional information before loading. \
\
For example, an Online Forms Custom Questions Report generates all the answers to custom questions on a form. A popup will request you to choose which form you want to see the report for. \
\
In this case, select the FORM NAME and then click LOAD REPORT.

\
To customize it, move back in this course to see the guide "Customize a Report".
From My List
Use this option when you already have a list of contacts to analyze loaded in your MY LIST.
For more on how to create a list, see the EA help article [How to: Use Create a List for searching](https://help.everyaction.com/s/article/2396232-running-searches-create-a-list).
6
Click MY LIST in the left-hand menu.
7
Click REPORTS.\
\
This will send only your current list of contacts into the report.
8
From the drop-down list of options, select the type of report you want to use.\
\
Click NEXT.
If you're not sure which type of report you need, COUNTS OF CONTACTS REPORT is a helpful template to default to when starting to use reports for the first time as it creates a basic report of contacts that you can customize and filter.

From Standard Report Type
10
If you already know which report type you need, type the name of it in the left-hand search bar. \
\
For example, search for and select the EVENT PARTICIPANT REPORT.
