    Create a Simple Blog Post (News & Updates)

    Login using your uwaterloo credentials at [wusa.ca/wp-admin](https://wusa.ca/wp-admin/). - In the black top bar: Select Dashboard to access the back-end - Navigate to Posts in your WordPress admin sidebar

    Click on the "Add New" button to create a post.

    Insert your article title into the "Add title" field. Then insert any post content in the editing field.     Heading styles, Quotations, Italics, Bold, etc are all available within the rich text editor.

    If you would like to add images/videos **within** an article Click "Add Media".

    Click "Upload files"

    Click "Select Files" if you would like to upload something from your computer

    OR click media library to access media uploaded in the past.

    To demonstrate how to edit an image within the CMS... We will select this pre-uploaded image of a bird.

    You will see the default file name of your image in the "Title" field. Clear the "Title" field for accessibility reasons and move it to the description area.

    "Alt Text" can be added within this field. Images that are purely decorative or are described in text nearby should have an empty alt attribute.

    Click "Insert into post" to save your media changes.

    Add and assign Categories on the right side of the post. You can add Categories on the fly by clicking the + Add New Category link at the bottom of the Categories section, or you can navigate to *Posts < Categories* to set up your Categories independently. - To assign Categories, check the box next to the Category name. These Categories are the filters that can show below your blog items when displaying your Blog posts with the Blog Element. They allow you to filter different types of posts.

    - Categories on the homepage and News & Updates page:   - Large Features should be tagged as Spotlights as well as the corresponding category  - Smaller features should be tagged as Featured as well as the corresponding category  - This month in brief are also tagged in the category section (Keep these \~100 words)
