    Geotab - Create Rule Break (Exception) Alert Notifications

      Click "Groups & Rules"

      Click "Rules"

      Scroll down to find your rule. You toggle the rule **on/off** based on your preference.

      By Default all new databases have the following rules enabled - Harsh Breaking - Hard Accesleration - Harsh Cornering - Speeding - Seatbelt - Unauthorized Device Removal (Device Unplug/Loss of Power)

      To add a real time alert to the rule click the "Envelope" button on the right of the rule.

      Here you have a few options for the alert. The most common one is email.

      You can use the template menu to select a different version of the email template if you have created one, however in most cases the "Default email template" is acceptable and will provide you with the information you need.

      Next you will want to select the user you are building alert for.

      Once you have your template and user **MAKE SURE TO CLICK ADD** to add the notification to the ruleset

      You also have some other options for alerts such as a pop up in the Admin Database under "Add Alert"

      Click "Add driver feedback" to add beeping in the vehicle for realtime coaching for dangerous driving.

      Alert! Please note that the "Text Message" and 'GOTalk" options here do require additional hardware so they are not recommended.

      You will also see a few more options to play with under the "More" tab.

      You can remove a notification at any time by coming to this same menu and clicking the **(X)** next to the notification you want removed.
