    Click "Election Return"

    You will record the contribution in kind by first recognizing the expense side of the transaction. Click "Expenses" to record the value of the goods or services received

    Click to select the appropriate category of expense

    Click to select the appropriate category of expense

    Click "New Expense" to record the value of the goods or services received

    Enter the value of the goods received that would otherwise be charged to a paying customer

    Enter "N/A" or another valid description in the "Cheque#" field.

    Enter "0" in the "Amount Paid" field to indicate that no amount was paid to the vendor for the goods or services. Enter the value of the goods or services again in the "Commercial Value" field. This will generally be the same as the "Total Invoice Amount", but could differ if the expense needs to be pro-rated for the election period. Enter only the value of the goods or services that were used during the election period.

    Select the appropriate type of Contributor from the "Contribution Type" drop down menu. Most commonly this will be Individuals or Corporations

    Enter a description of the goods or services received in the "Description" field

    Select the name of the individual or corporation that provided the goods or services from the drop down list or select "New" to add a new name to the list

    Click "Save" and both the expense and contribution will be recorded on the return

    To verify that the contribution was recognized appropriately, click "Contributions"

    Browse to the appropriate category of contributor

    You will see the contribution recorded with an indication that the transaction is a Donation in Kind
