Pursue Scholars is an urban leadership development nonprofit based in Chicago that takes a holistic approach to investing in emerging leaders from diverse neighborhoods. Their mission extends beyond traditional scholarship programs, aiming to inspire and train young leaders not only to complete college but also to grow as individuals capable of creating lasting positive change in their communities.

The initial challenge faced by Pursue Scholars was funding the dreams of urban students striving for a college education. To address this, they initiated the Pursue Unity event—an annual 24-mile journey through 197 blocks, weaving through diverse neighborhoods. The primary goal was to raise funds that would allow them to grant scholarships to deserving students who excel academically but need financial assistance to pursue higher education.

To amplify their fundraising efforts and extend their reach, Pursue Scholars strategically employed Project World Impact's Crowdfund tool. Leveraging social media platforms and their website, they encouraged donors to contribute to the scholarship fund. This innovative approach resulted in a collective effort that successfully garnered an impressive $294,587.

The outcome of Pursue Scholars' efforts was transformative. With the funds raised, they were able to grant scholarships of up to $10,000 to deserving scholars, breaking financial barriers and providing them with a pathway to higher education. Pursue Scholars remains committed to their vision of students graduating tuition debt-free, actively seeking additional financial assistance for remaining expenses. Beyond the tangible outcomes, Pursue Scholars is contributing to a brighter future where education catalyzes lasting positive change in communities across Chicago.
