How to Add a New Dataset in DataverseNL (Maastricht University dataverse)

Dataverse

Navigate to [https://dataverse.nl/](https://dataverse.nl/)

Go to "Log In" (top right)

Use your institutional credentials

If you enter for the first time, you automatically create an account. You will get a notification to confirm your email.

Go to "Maastricht University" dataverse

Then, navigate to your Faculty's dataverse

Finally, navigate to your Department's dataverse

You should be able to see this button "Add Data" (right-had side). If not, please contact [ub-dataverse@maastrichtuniversity.nl](mailto:ub-dataverse@maastrichtuniversity.nl)

NOTE! If your affiliation is the [Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience - FPN](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/about-um/faculties/faculty-psychology-and-neuroscience) then the "Add Data" button won't be visible You need to directly contact the local data management team to get appropriate permissions to get started: [datamanagement-fpn@maastrichtuniversity.nl](https://mailto:datamanagement-fpn@maastrichtuniversity.nl)

Click "New Dataset" to create a new data publication.

Fill in all relevant information of your data or collection.

You must include your "ORCID" so that the <https://cris.maastrichtuniversity.nl/> system can index your data publication.

Note that the Metadata field "Subject" allows multiple options.

Optional but highly recommended to add a controlled vocabulary of the keyword you use to make the data more discoverable and avoid confusion in terminologies.

For example, the keyword definition of "Data Protection" can be found in the EU Vocabularies: [https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies](https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies)

Click "Select Files to Add" to start adding your data files.

Click "Save Dataset" to save this entry; you can return to it whenever you want. NOTE: The data is not yet published, you have created a draft entry.

Once the entry has been created, an alert is sent for us to review at [ub-dataverse@maastrichtuniversity.nl](mailto:ub-dataverse@maastrichtuniversity.nl) NOTE: a DOI has been automatically created for your draft

Finally, please check the terms and conditions on which this data or collection will be available. "Terms" tab. It is possible to make Metadata available and files only pen upon request.

Click "Edit Terms Requirements" to see the detailed options.

Select the CC-BY-4.0 license In case you want to choose otherwise or want to learn more.\ Please visit <https://creativecommons.org/choose/>.

OPTIONAL: In case you want your files to be open upon request, you can do it by selecting this option.

Click "Save Changes"

You will get contacted by a data steward towards the publishing of your data.
