Before calculating the standard deviation, make sure your data is organized properly in Google Sheets
Select an empty cell where you want to display the standard deviation result This is where the formula will calculate and show the result
    Type "=stdev"
    Select the "Standard deviation" option
Within the parentheses, choose the range of data you want to include for the standard deviation calculation
After typing the formula, press Enter on your keyboard The standard deviation value will now appear in the cell where you entered the formula
Note: There are two main types of standard deviation formulas you can use in Google Sheets, depending on your data: - **STDEV.P** – Used for calculating the standard deviation of a **population** (i.e., when the data represents the entire population). - **STDEV.S** – Used for calculating the standard deviation of a **sample** (i.e., when the data represents a sample from a larger population). If your data represents the entire population, you should use **STDEV.P**. If it's just a sample, use **STDEV.S**.
