Choose the course where you want to add the assignment

Click "Modules" to add the assignment directly to a module. You can also choose to create your assignments through the "Assignments" option in the course navigation menu.

Click here the plus sign on the module header where you want your assignment to go.

Change the dropdown to "Assignment" if it is not already selected and click "\[ Create Assignment \]"

Click the text field next to "Assignment Name"

Name your assignment

Click "Add Item"

Click on the name of the assignment you created within the module to edit it.

Click the dropdown menu next to "Submission Type."

Choose the "External Tool" option in the dropdown menu and then click "Find"

Choose "Google Assignments (LTI 1.3)" and then click "Select"

Choose the google file that you students need to complete. This can be a Google Doc, Slides, or Sheet. This will generate a copy of your file for each student.

For the grading options, choose "Canvas SpeedGrader"

Make sure you set the rest of the assignment up as normal, including the grading and submissions options as well as your desired due date.
