    How to Create / Edit / Delete Categories

    Begin by selecting the 'Categories & Tags' in the editor menu

    Your map will likely include a pre-filled 'My Places' category. You can choose to keep it, edit it, or delete it as needed.\ \ To edit this category, click on the pill to open the category editor.

    Type a new name in the textbox to rename the category. You can also add a description to provide viewers with more context about the category details.

    In this example, I’ve renamed my category to 'Museums' and added a brief description. Next, we'll set the category icon. You have three options:\ \ **Colors:** Display colored dots on your map.\ **Icons:** Choose from thousands of in-house icons.\ **Upload:** Add a custom icon or image for your category.\ \ Select your preferred format by toggling the options on the selector panel.

    Once satisfied with your category icon, click close to save.

    To add a new category, simply click on the '+ New Category' pill.

    The new category details dropdowns will appear. Edit these by adding a title and description in the textboxes and selecting your icon style. Click close to save.

    To delete a category, click on the category you would like to remove.

    Then click the 'delete category' button.

    Alert! Deleting a category will also delete ALL associated points. To delete a category but keep the points, first reassign those points to a new category. You can easily make bulk changes like this in the spreadsheet view
