In your Moodle Dashboard, click on your **profile photo**.

In the "User account" section, click **"Forum preferences"**.

The first dropdown gives you an option to select different email notification preferences (digest type).

No digest (single email per forum post)
Complete (daily email with full posts)
Subjects (daily email with subjects only)

Click the question mark to learn more about what each setting does.

No digest - you will receive one e-mail per forum post;
Digest - complete posts - you will receive one digest e-mail per day containing the complete contents of each forum post;
Digest - subjects only - you will receive one digest e-mail per day containing just the subject of each forum post.

The **"Forum auto-subscribe"** dropdown allows you to choose when you are subscribed to forums. Select the option that suits your preference.

Yes: when I post, subscribe me to that forum discussion
No: don't automatically subscribe me to forum discussions

The **"Forum tracking"** dropdown allows you to set an option to highlight new posts.

No: don't keep track of posts I have seen
Yes: highlight new posts for me

You can edit the **"Automatically mark posts as read"** if you would like to manually mark forum posts as read. This is done automatically by default.

Yes: Mark all posts as read
No: Do not automatically mark posts as read

When you are notified of a forum post, you can choose if that forum post should be marked as read via the **"When sending forum post notifications"** dropdown.

Mark the post as read
Do not mark the post as read

Once you are happy with all the settings, click **"Save changes"**.

Another option to quickly update your forum preferences:\

Click **"Announcements and Forums"** on the course page.

Here you have options to **Track**, **Subscribe** or adjust your **email digest type** for each forum.

Note that you are automatically subscribed to the **Announcement forum**, and you cannot change this setting.

You can also change the subscription settings in bulk for all forums.
