The first step in setting up your election is to gather 'nominations' by category. In Proxi, these nominations are map points, grouped using the category concept that exists for regular maps.

You can gather nominations in one of two ways:

1. You add nominations (map points/places) by category onto your map.

2. Crowdsource nominations from your audience.

For either way you choose to add nominations,  you'll need to set up your categories. 

Click 'Category and Tag Management' from the left hand menu.

If you are going to add your own nominations, you'll want to add points one by one or using spreadsheet view.

To crowdsource nominations, click "Share" in the upper right hand corner of the map.

When you're ready to share, check "Let Viewers Add Points" and then copy/share the map using the link or other sharing modality like embedding the map.

Map Viewers will be able to add a nomination using the "Add Point" button in the upper right (you can customize the text).

Map viewers will use the form that you customized to add their nomination.

You can choose to approve/deny the nominations.

After collecting nominations, you'll turn on your election.

Activate the 'Best of' voting kit under "Apps". Click "Apps".

The option to manage voting will appear under "Apps". Click "Best of Voting".

Edit Basic Details - Title, Dates, Description

You will be take to the "Set Up" tab.

Toggle the election on and off here. If toggled on, the election will be live for map viewers. If it is toggled off, the election will not be live for the map viewer even if the election is within the election date range.

Next, decide on a start and end date range for the election. During these dates, if the election is toggled 'On',  map viewers will be prompted to vote in the election.
