      Before applying a filter, ensure your data is structured in a tabular format with headers at the top of each column The headers serve as labels for the data and will be used as reference points when setting the filter conditions

      Click and drag your cursor to highlight the entire range of data that you want to filter Be sure to include the headers in the selection, as they will define the columns for the filter

      Tip! **Use Keyboard Shortcuts:**\ Alternatively, click on the first cell in the top-left corner of your data range, and then use the keyboard shortcut `Ctrl + Shift + Arrow keys` to select the data range more efficiently

      After selecting your data, go to the top menu and click on "Data" In the dropdown menu, you will see the option "Create a filter" Click on this option to apply the filter to your data range

      Once the filter is applied, small filter icons (downward arrows) will appear next to each header These icons allow you to adjust the filter settings for each column individually

      To begin filtering a specific column, click on the filter icon (downward arrow) next to the column header you want to filter by If you have cells with different background colors, select "Filter by cell color" A palette will appear showing all the colors used in that column. Select the color you want to filter by, and Google Sheets will display only the rows with that specific background color

      You can filter data based on certain conditions For instance, if you want to see only sales greater than $500, select "Filter by condition" and choose "Greater than" from the options. Then, enter the threshold value (e.g., 500) in the box provided

      If you want to filter by specific values, select "Filter by values" A list of all unique values in that column will appear, allowing you to check or uncheck boxes next to the values you want to include or exclude from the filter

      Once you've set your criteria, click OK to apply the filter Google Sheets will automatically update the sheet to show only the rows that match the filter condition
