Once you upload students' written responses or after students complete their typed responses, go to the sidebar navigation and click "Writing: Spanish" under "Assessments".

Make sure you select the type of writing you assigned. In this example we are using "Writing Informative (Spanish)

You will see a yellow dot for students who submitted their assessment. For each student, click "View Results / Grade"

Grade students' work based on the objectives and then click "Submit"

When you go back to the assessment dashboard, you will see green if the student mastered the assessment you assigned, or purple if they didn't.

You now need to find students' instructional level by grading the assessment at a different level based on the result. *\* If you assigned Level E and your student didn't master it (purple), you do not need to do anything else for that student.* Click "View Results" to start.

Click "Change Grading Level".

If the student mastered the level you assigned, go to the next level. In this example, the student mastered level H, so we are now going to grade it at Level K. Then click "Save"

If the student didn't master the level you assigned, go to the previous level. In this example, the student didn't master level H, so we are now going to grade it at Level E. Then click "Save"

Grade students' work based on the objectives and then click "Submit"

When you go back to the assessment dashboard, you will now see the result at 2 different levels. If you have a green box, followed by a purple box, you are done.

In some cases you might need to grade additional levels until you find the Instructional Level (a Green box followed by a Purple box) In the example, the teacher assigned Level K to all students. Rose mastered Level K and Level M, but she didn't master Level P. Her independent writing level is M, and her instructional level is P. Daniel didn't master Level K or Level H, and he mastered Level E. His independent writing level is E, and his instructional level is H.
