Log into [mytsu.tnstate.edu](http://mytsu.tnstate.edu) and click on Banner Services, then the Student tab.
    Click "Registration"
Click "Select Term" and choose the proper term.
Click Submit once you've chosen the correct term.
Click "Add or Drop Classes" to get to the add classes worksheet. We will also look up the desired course from that page.
    Click the Class Search button.
    Click "PADM-Public Administration"
    Click this button.
Click this button. We want to register for regular-price dissertation research credits.
Click the "add to worksheet" field. We are adding the variable credit course, PADM 8110 **Section 98**, which is regular-price Dissertation Research. All doctoral students in the PhD PPA program must complete 12 regular-price dissertation credits (see policy in Graduate Catalog). You can choose how many you take per semester. We don't care about the pace as long as all 12 are paid for.
    Click this button.
Click this button. This will register you for 3 credits, which is the default. If you want more, the next few steps explain what to do to increase the number of credits registered, after you submit changes here.
The default is to register for 3 credits. If that's what you want, you can skip the next few steps, to where you navigate to Active Registrations to verify that you registered as desired. OR, you can increase the number of credits you are registering for (and paying for), up to the full 12 credits in one semester. Remember all PhD PPA students need to pay for 12 PADM 8110 **Section 98** regular-price dissertation research credits. NOTE: if you want to register for more than *9 or more* credits, you will automatically trigger an immunization hold and will need to complete a special form as an online student to get that removed. \[If you are still working on your dissertation in future semesters after you have paid for 12, you are permitted to register for continuation credits, 8110 Section 35, which are very low cost -- just to stay in the system and retain library privileges, and to be able to apply for graduation when the time comes.\] \[If you are a state of TN employee, wanting to use the state fee waiver, it's up to you to check whether you can register for more than 3 credits or not and still use the waiver -- be aware it may only cover the usual 3.\] To register for more than 3 credits, click "3.000" (the number is a link).
Click the "Credit Hours (3.000 to 12.000):" field. Type "6" or any number up to 12 that you are wanting to pay for this semester.
Click this button to record the change -- nothing will happen but you have to click it.
Click "Add or Drop Classes" at the bottom of the page to go to the Course Worksheet, having changed the credits. NOTE: Do not click "Return to Previous" -- you will lose the increased credits and go back to 3.
Verify that you now see the higher number of credits under "Cred." When satisfied, click the "Submit Changes" button.
Now let's verify that you registered as desired. Click "Student"
    Click "Registration"
    Click "Active Registration"
