    Creating an Account and Registering for a Course: First-Time

    To begin the process of creating an account and registering for a training, Click the "Catalog" button on the login page.

    After arriving at TDCJ's catalog, select the section of training that you would like to register for. Click "Register" to add the section to your shopping cart.

    To proceed with creating an account and registering, click "Proceed to Checkout" at the top right hand corner of the screen.

    Now, create your TDCJ Genius account by entering your first name, last name, and an email address in the appropriate fields.

    Once you've entered your information, click the "register" button to create your account and proceed to the next confirmation screen.

    Next, confirm details about the training that you've added to your card.

    When you're ready to proceed, click the "confirm" button below the training details.

    You've now successfully registered for the training you selected.

    Click "Go to Dashboard" on the right to navigate to the learner dashboard.

    This is the learner dashboard, the central hub for accessing training in Blackboard, reviewing completed training, registering for addition training, and reviewing communications received from Genius.

    First, let's review the message center. Click "Message Center" to continue.

    This is the message center. A virtual inbox where learners can review a copy of the emails sent to them from the Genius system. Learners can also use the compose tool to write and send emails to other users within Genius.

    When users first created their account during their first encounter with Genius they received an email called "TDCJ: Online Training Account Created." Click on the email to review it's contents.

    This email contains the login credentials you will need to access training and professional development offered by TDCJ through Genius and Blackboard. The login page, username, and a one-time password are provided. The first time learners login with these credentials Genius will require them to update their password. This is also true if a password reset is requested by the learner.

    Click "Back to Inbox" to return to the inbox.

    Next, let's review the registration confirmation email received by learners when they register. Click on the email called "TDCJ: You're Enrolled!"

    This email is automatically sent to learners when they successfully register for a training. It contains details about the training.
