How to Set up Asana Rules with Variables
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up Asana rules for task automation. Option 1- Adding a variable person

Open the project where you would like to make the variable rule and click "customize" in the right hand corner.

Click "Add rule"

Click "create custom rule".

Click "Add trigger"

Click "Task is added to this project"

Select whether you would like the rule to apply to only tasks or to form submissions.

Click "Add action"

Click "Change assignee to…"

Click the "add variable" plus sign next to choosing an assignee.

Here you will see 3 variable options: 1. Task creator 2. Assignee 3. Rule triggerer\ All of these can be chosen when selecting a person in a rule.

Click "Create rule"
Option 2- Adding a variable date

Click "Task is moved to a section" or "Task is added to this project" for the trigger.
