Search for your desired location in the "Enter Address, Zip Code, or City" field and press **Enter.**

    2

In **Step 1** of the sidebar that appears, select **Crime.**

    3

In **Step 2** of the sidebar, there are three **Categories** to choose. We'll try all of them, but let's start with **Heat Map / Pins.**

    4

You can view data by multiple *Time Frames*. For this example, choose **Past 6 Months.**

    5

The *Data Boundary* is set to **Radius,** so we'll keep it there.

    6

You can change the *Radius in Miles* to search a larger area. For this example, we'll press **1\.**

    7

If all the filters fit your criteria, we're ready to view the data! Click **Generate Map.**

    8

A crime heat map will appear, allowing you to easily see areas with lighter or heavier crime. **Zoom in** for more details.

    9

To get a better pulse on the area, you can see each crime that has occurred in the past 6 months in this area.

    10

**Click** on a pin to view more details.

    11

You can add the generated data as a **Layer.** This will allow you to stack data types on your map. Let's click that now.

    12

Enter your *Layer Name* and click **Save.**

    13

You've finished finding Crime *Heat Map / Pins*! Now press **Crime Growth** to find the trend in your area.

    14

You can choose the *Time Frame* to compare against. Let's compare **January 2019** with **January 2022.**

    15

We want to research the same area, so we'll keep the *Data Boundary* as a **1 Mile Radius** and **Generate the Map.**

    16

In **Step 3,** the sidebar shows the difference between January of 2019 and January of 2022, indicating a **33\.33% drop** in crime.

    17

Nice work! You've finished comparing Austin's *Crime Growth* data. Now click **Step 2** to research the last category.

    18

In **Step 2** of the sidebar, select **Crime Risk.**

    19

The *Data Boundary* is automatically selected as **City By Zip Code.** Press **Generate Map.**

    20

In **Step 3** of the sidebar, a list of crimes and the risk of them occurring is illustrated.
