    Estimated FinAid

**🚨 Heads up! Estimated** is the magic word when it comes to your Financial Aid at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. Here's the deal: - **Estimated Financial Aid Awards** assume you're going to take full-time (12+ units) on your Program of Study. If you go part-time (6+ units), they’ll adjust closer to the term start. - **Estimated Costs** are what the U.S. Department of Education thinks you’ll need (check out Step 8 for more).
    7
**Estimated Financial Aid** 💵 Remember, these amounts are **just estimates** and can change! 🎓 **Grants & Scholarships (blue box)**: Includes Federal Pell, SEOG Grants, and any scholarships added to your account. 💳 **Loans (green box)**: Federal Loan Offers you can accept or decline. 📌 **Estimated Costs (red box)**: These are estimates from the U.S. Dept. of Education. We’ll dive into this in Step 8!

**REMEMBER:** 💡 Your Financial Aid award is just an **estimate**, based on you taking 12+ credits (full-time) in your Program of Study. Once you register, **your award will adjust** to match the number of credits you're actually taking that count toward your Program of Study. 👉 Have you met with an NWACC Advisor to review your courses and Program of Study?

Here’s the difference between **Subsidized** and **Unsubsidized** Loans: **Federal Direct Subsidized Loans**\ ✅ The U.S. Department of Education covers the interest: - While you're in school at least half-time - For the first 6 months after you leave school (grace period) - During a deferment (if you postpone payments) **Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans** \ ❌ You’re responsible for paying the interest: - It starts accruing as soon as the loan is disbursed and continues throughout the life of the loan.
