How to check for software updates / upgrades?

  • 0 step
    Click "Manager" in your dock.
Click "Install MacOS Updates" in the My Apps window.
    Click "OK".
    Click "OK".
Enter your computer password (not your LDAP password).
    Click "OK".
You'll notice "Apple Software Update Workflow Starting". Be sure to keep your laptop display open.
Your computer will begin updates or inform you that you are already up to date.
Alert! Keep your computer on WiFi, plugged into power and display open through the entire process. If you get an error message saying you do not have enough space to install the update / upgrade, please follow the steps from "I'm out of space on my computer. What do I do now?" first. The good news is, when you free up space to complete an update / upgrade, you get that free space back after the update / upgrade is complete!
How do I check the install completed? Click "Apple"
    Click "About This Mac"
Next to macOS, you'll see the Operating System your computer is currently running.
Want to make guides like this in seconds? Yes, it's really that fast.
