How to generate your Google Maps API Key

What is a Google Maps Key? A Google Maps API key is a personal code provided by Google to access Google Maps services from your site.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Usage of the Maps Services of Google is not FREE. However they do give free credits per month for you to consume before they start charging you. [Click here for more about Google Charges and Pricing](https://mapsplatform.google.com/pricing/).

Logon to you Google Account

Navigate to [https://console.cloud.google.com/](https://console.cloud.google.com/welcome?project=excellent-sunup-417608)

Click on the image located in the upper right corner and ensure that you are logged into your Google account.

Click this icon at the upper left corner of the screen.

A pop-up window will appear and Click "NEW PROJECT"

Type "[www.YOURDOMAIN.com](http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com)" as the name of the project

Click "CREATE"

Click and select the new project that you just created from the notifications menu or from the "Projects" drop down menu at the upper left corner of the page (See next image)

Click "APIs & Services"

Click "Credentials"

Click "CREATE CREDENTIALS"

A window will appear with your newly created API Key. Please copy this key and send to [support@ecoachmanager.com](mailto:support@voovadigital.com) after completing this tutorial.\ \ Click "CLOSE"

After creating your API Key. Let's now restrict your API Key usage by clicking "API key 1" or your "API Key"

Click and select "Websites"

At this point we will need to input 2 URLs. Please click the "Website" field.

Type "[https://*\*.YOURDOMAIN.com/*\*](https://*YOURDOMAIN.com/*)" and click DONE

Click "ADD" to add the 2nd URL...

Click "Website" field

Type "[https://YOURDOMAIN.ecoachmanager.com/\*](https://yourdomain.ecoachmanager.com/*)"

Click "DONE"

Once you have created and restricted the usage of your API Key, the next step involves enabling the selected APIs that you will be utilizing on your system. Please click "Library" from the Menu on the left side of the page

Look for the "Maps" Category

Go to the right side and click "VIEW ALL"

On this page, we will identify five crucial APIs that we intend to use: - Direction API - Distance Matrix API - Geocoding API - Geolocation API - Places API - Maps JavaScript API Let's enable it one by one. For this instance, let's start with Geocoding API...

Click "ENABLE"

Select your country ..

Click "AGREE & CONTINUE"

If you haven't integrated or updated your account with your card, the subsequent page will prompt you to register your card for billing. Kindly complete the form provided.

Click this text field and complete the required fields...

Please take note of the following .. - Verify your card to get started - No charge to try Maps APIs - Start building right away

Click "START FREE"

Please repeat the steps for the rest of the APIs that we need to enable... - Direction API - Distance Matrix API - Geocoding API - Geolocation API - Places API - Maps JavaScript API

Once you've finished all the steps, kindly send an email to [support@ecoachmanager.com](mailto:support@ecoachmanager.com) containing your API Key. Also, please confirm in the email that: - You have restricted your API Key to be used exclusively with - [https://\*.YOURDOMAIN.com/\*](//https://%5C*.yourdomain.com/%5C*) - [https://YOURDOMAIN.ecoachmanager.com/\*](https://yourdomain.ecoachmanager.com/%5C*) - You have enabled the 5 required APIs. - Direction API - Distance Matrix API - Geocoding API - Geolocation API - Places API - Maps JavaScript API
