How to create headings in Google Docs
No one likes reading a wall of text. You can split up your text and make it more readable by adding headings. If you are working on a more formal document, headings are a necessity. Follow these steps to create headings in Google Docs.

With your document open, select the line of text that you wish to set as a heading.

Click the Styles drop-down. This is set to Normal text by default.

Select which heading you would like to create. You can select H1 for a large heading, or you can select H2 or H3 for smaller headings.

An even quicker method is to use a keyboard shortcut instead of selecting via the drop-down.

Press [[cmd]] + [[option]] + [[1]]to set your heading as H1

Press [[cmd]] + [[option]] + [[2]] to set an H2

Press [[cmd]] + [[option]] + [[3]] to set an H3.
