Create your follow up by clicking on the action first.

Click on 'add new action'

Select the criteria for follow up

Here we selected 'opens' but you can select any of the options.

The select the condition of that criteria. E.g. Opens = Yes.

You can select any of the conditions that are allowed by that criteria. For this example we select 'Yes'

Now select the follow up action.

We selected email just for explanation, but you can select from any action type.

And to add the follow up click on the button 'Add follow up'.

You will the action appear as a circle. And there will be a hexagon between the two actions.

To create a mutually exclusive track to the follow up, click on the Hexagon (not the circle) and click on 'add new action'

Select the condition for the mutually exclusive action. NOTE that a mutually exclusive action can have a different condition but must have the same criteria. E.g. You cannot switch from Opens to Links clicks.

Once you have selected the Condition, click on 'Add alternative action'

There you have it. Follow up with two mutually exclusive options. Top one for Opens = Yes and bottom one for Opens = No.
