DeltaBreed has been tested with v5.6.10 of Field Book. Some later versions like 5.6.20 or 5.6.25 have also been tested and has been found interoperable. If you have having trouble with interoperability, try using v5.6.10 which is outlined in this training. This training takes you through the steps to get v5.6.10 on your device.

In order to download the installation APK file for the this specific version of Field Book, your Android device will need to allow installation downloads both from your internet browser and your file download settings. (Please note that these screenshots came from a Samsung Galaxy tablet. Your device may look slightly different.)

To check/change these settings, click on "settings" in your device.

Note that the "my files" and "Safari" tabs are not selected. Make sure you switch those to allow for installation from these places. 

Make sure they both are turned "on" before you proceed with the installation.

If you have an older version of Field Book, you do not need to uninstall first in order to install v5.6.10 on your device. See the following steps for more information.

You can check what version you have by going to the "About" screen in Field Book on the device you wish to collect observation with.

Note here that this version is older than v5.6.10, so this user would not need to uninstall Field Book before installing v5.6.10.

Get the Field Book v5.6.10 installation APK file.

Go to the [Breeding Insight website](https://breedinginsight.org/) to access the APK file to download this version of Field Book.

Once on the website, click on "Software" on the top menu.

Click on "DeltaBreed Training Materials".

Clink of the "DeltaBreed manual" link on the left hand side of the webpage. This will take you to the DeltaBreed manual.

In the manual table of contents, click on the link at the bottom of the list entitled "BrAPI & Integration of Peripheral Apps 0.9.1".

Scroll down the page until you see this purple informational box. In it is the installation file. Click on the link.

Once you've click on the link, click on the download icon.

Technically, this APK file is a type of zip file. It is possible that your device would like to download or save this file with the designation "zip" at the end. This will mean that the installation will not happen as it should to enable you to install and open Field Book. Note in this image, the file name ends in a .zip.
