Create a new assingment in Canvas and give the assignment a name and add the instructions like you normally would.

In Submission type, select "Text Entry" or "File Uploads"

To access the report, go to the **Speedgrader** via the Assignment or via Grades.

**Click the percentage** to open the plagiarism report in Similarity.

In Grades you can also find an overview. The Green, Red and Blue colors indicate whether a score is 'Low' or 'High'. If the report is failing to generate, you can "**Resubmit to Turnitin - Similarity**". Please note the report takes some time to generate.

At the top you can find the Similarity score. The color of the report icon indicates the submission's similarity score, based on the amount of matching text found. The percentage range is 0% to 100%. Turnitin does not check for plagiarism in writing. Turnitins checks all submissions against their database. If any text in a submission is similar to one of the sources, these matches are highlighted for you to review.

The **Match Overview reveals** the overall Similarity Score and a list of sources that match student writing. The colours in this list match the colours highlighted in the student’s writing. Click a source for more details or to exclude the match.

Use **filters and settings** to exclude citations, quotes or bibliographic information from a student's score.

e.g. exclude the bibliography or 'small matches'.

You can **exclude sources**. Choose the exclude icon in the source card to exclude all matches to that particular source from the report. If a paper has a very high similarity to another paper, e.g. an earlier concept, you can exclude the source. After exluding the source, new sources become available.
