Lab Order Messages - Moving to a future date

    From your dashboard insure you have the "Orders to Lab Due" showing in your message center. Note there are 50 messages that are Routine, and 10 Messages to Follow up on. Click on the blue hyperlink, "Orders To Lab Due" to open from the Message center.

    The Orders to Lab Due will open to view the newest 200 messages only. If the previous screen shows more than 200 messages, then this screen will only show 200 messages. Use the slider at the far right to scroll down the page. Messages with a Yellow circle indicate that this message is new and has not been reviewed or read yet. To return to the previous screen showing the total counts, you would click on the "Back to Counts ->" link to be returned to the counts.

    If there are greater then 200 messages, or you prefer seeing more detail on the message, once scrolled to the bottom of the screen you will see a blue MESSAGE CENTER hyperlink, clicking on this will open all the messages to full screen.

    When the full view opens, click on "Advanced >>". This opens your view detail settings.

    Change the Maximum items returned (-1 for no limit) to a -1. Doing this is only needed if there is more than 200 messages in the Lab Order due box. A setting here of -1 will then show all messages in the Lab orders due messages.

    Once you have changed the value to -1, click on "Search". This will now search and bring up all messages.

    Click "<< Advanced" again to collapse the Filter Attributes window.

    Clicking on any of the headings will sort your list either by date or by alphabet. Clicking on Created for example will sort the list from oldest message to newest. Clicking on again will sort it newest to oldest.

    Once you have sorted the messages by what ever criteria you need, to open the message, click on the blue Date hyperlink. If you wanted to open the Patient, you can click on the patient name and it would take you to the Patient demographics. This example using the Date to open and work with the Lab Order message. Note the Urgency column, you can change a messages urgency. You can also sort by urgency

    Note urgency, this is where the urgency is set on the message, use the magnifying glass to search and change urgency if needed. Use the scroll bar to the far right of the Order to scroll to see more tests listed. There is also a scroll bar at the bottom of the message in order to scroll left and right on the message.

    To check to insure patient has been scheduled for the follow up tests, click on the Patient Icon at the top of the screen. (this icon changes and may look different based on if patient has email address, phone etc., however it is always located in this same area.)

    Click "Close" to close the Appointment window.

    Click the Due Date Magnifying glass to open the calendar, or alternatively you can manually type in 04/17/2025.

    If you are using the magnifying glass to search the calendar, use the arrows to the top side of the calendar to advance the calendar to the needed month.

    Once you get to the correct calendar, click on the appointment date then click ok.

    Note the new Due Date has been saved. Next you are going to remove and add a new Reason to this message. Remove the current Reason of "Complete the patient's outgoing lab order(s)" message.

    Enter a new reason such as when the labs are to be drawn or other message of your choosing. This will now be the Reason that is shown in future for this Order message. Once you have completed the message, click on OK to save the changes to this message.

    You will be returned to the Message center. Note the message you worked on is no longer on the list. The message has been pushed to show back on this list, on April 16th 1 day prior to it being due for the patient at their April 17th visit. The message still exists in the patient chart. Note: the Reasons on the items remaining in the Message center. These are reasons that were removed and a new reason added to items in the box that need follow up on. Their due dates are past due for the requested draw. Results are not in the chart for the requested tests that were on the Lab order message nor was there any future visit date scheduled.
