    Sign in to the **Google Cloud Console**

    Type "**Cloud storage**" in the search bar and click on the **Cloud storage** option

    Scroll to the **Bucket retention policy section** and click on the **SET RETENTION POLICY** button

Once a retention policy is set, objects in that bucket cannot be deleted or overwritten until the specified retention period has passed.     **Set a retention policy** wizard will open, enter "**2**" in the **Duration** text input field **Note:** You can set the Duration as per your requirement

    Click on the **seconds** dropdown section and here you can select the options for the duration like seconds, days, months and years

    Click on the **SAVE** button to apply the changes

    Click on the **LOCK** button **Note:** The **LOCK** button will only visible after adding a retention policy

Once a retention policy is locked, it cannot be modified or removed, and objects within the bucket cannot be deleted or altered until the retention period has expired.     **Lock retention policy** wizard will open, type "**my-first-bucket-in28minutes-2**" and click on the **LOCK POLICY** button

    To set the Retention policy while creating the Cloud Storage, on the Buckets wizard click on the **CREATE** button on the top left side

    Scroll the page and click on the **Choose how to protect object data** section

    Scroll the page and tick the check box **Retention (For compliance)**

    Tick the check box **Set bucket retention policy,** here you can set the Duration for the retention policy

    Click on the **CREATE** button to apply the changes
