Sign in into the **Microsoft Azure Portal**
Type **Azure Migrate** in the search bar and click on the **Azure Migrate**
**What is Migration to Azure with Azure Migrate?**\ \ **Migration to Azure with Azure Migrate** refers to the process of moving on-premises workloads, applications, and data to the Azure cloud using the Azure Migrate service. Azure Migrate provides a centralized hub for assessment, planning, and migration, offering tools and guidance to ensure a smooth and efficient transition. It helps identify dependencies, estimate costs, and optimize resources, supporting various migration scenarios including server, database, and application migrations.
Click on the **Servers, databases and web apps** option from the left bar
**What are Servers, databases and web apps?**\ \ In Azure Migrate, the focus is on migrating servers and databases to Azure's cloud infrastructure. Servers, whether physical or virtual, undergo assessment and migration processes facilitated by Azure Migrate. Similarly, databases are evaluated for compatibility and readiness, with Azure Migrate aiding in the migration to Azure's database services. While Azure Migrate primarily handles server and database migrations, web applications can also be hosted and managed in Azure using services like Azure App Service, although the migration process for web apps may differ from that of servers and databases.
**Getting started** wizard will open, here you can click on the **Create project** button to get started with Migrating **Servers**, **Databases** and **Web apps** to Azure
Click on the **Databases (only)** from the left bar to Migrate only **Databases** with Azure Migrate
**What are Databases (only) in Azure Migrate?**\ \ The "Databases (only)" option in Azure Migrate specifically focuses on assessing and migrating databases to Azure. This option allows you to assess the readiness and compatibility of your on-premises databases for migration to Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and other Azure database services. It provides insights into database workloads, identifies dependencies, and offers recommendations to help streamline the migration process while minimizing downtime and ensuring compatibility with Azure's managed database services.
Click on the **Web apps** from the left bar to Migrate **Web apps** with Azure Migrate
**What are Web apps?**\ \ The "Web apps" option in Azure Migrate allows you to assess and migrate web applications to Azure App Service. This option is specifically tailored for organizations looking to modernize their web applications by moving them to Azure's managed platform as a service (PaaS) offering. Azure Migrate provides assessment capabilities to evaluate the readiness and compatibility of your web applications for migration to Azure App Service.
Click on the **Data box** from the left bar
**What is a Data box in Azure Migrate?**\ \ Azure Data Box is a range of ruggedized appliances designed to securely transfer large volumes of data to and from Azure. It includes options like Azure Data Box Disk for up to 40 TB, Azure Data Box for up to 100 TB, and Azure Data Box Heavy for up to 1 PB of data transfer to Azure. These appliances offer a physical solution for scenarios where network-based data transfer is impractical, providing a secure and efficient way to move data to the cloud.
**Get started with Data Box** wizard will open, here you can transfer large volumes of data to Azure in Azure Migrate
