Moving order to future date and requesting Lab appointment be scheduled

    When a Order Message is to be done on a future date, but the patient has not been put on the laboratory schedule yet for the Lab draw, follow these steps. Click on Patient Information to open past/future appointments

    Note patient is scheduled for Future Appointment with provider, but has not been scheduled yet for the Labs to be drawn. Patient is scheduled for 2/15 for Provider, Labs should be done about 1 week prior.

    Click "Close" to return to the Lab Order Message.

    Click on Magnifying glass on the order to select the date when this order should be done.

    "Thursday, February 8, 2024 selected." was selected, this is 1 week prior to when the Provider appointment is scheduled.

    Click "OK" to save this date for this message.

    Next click on the "Tasks" tab of the Order message

    Click "<New>" (this will open up an new message)

    Type in the Assign to field to send this message to whom ever will be processing the request to schedule the patient for the Lab visit.

    In this example this message will be assigned to site "01 SCHEDULING" Group to call and schedule this patient. Next click the Blue "Task" hyperlink (Site 1 only) all other sites would need to free text in the message , or if would like to use see next screen.

    Click "Lab F/U" when the Task lists opens. (other sites, when the Note type opens, at the bottom add "General Note Type" Search and find "SITE 1". the click "Search" and you should see this same list.

    Click it again and the dialog will be selected -see next slide.

    Click "OK" to select this dialog to be added to your message. If you are other sites, you can type this same statement in.

    On the message go to the \_ and type in the date that the patient is scheduled for the provider visit.

    Go to the Next \_ and type in the date you entered for the Lab Message Date.

    If you would like this message to be sent to the "Assigned to" Recipient on a date other than the current date, choose the magnifying glass and choose the date you would like this message to be sent. (this example Assigned to was 01 SCHEDULING) If the appointment is coming up soon, then consider sending this message with no due date... it will be sent immediately. If the future appointment's is a few months out, consider sending this message on a future date that would be applicable. EX: if current month is Jan, but the appointment is not until April, consider a scheduling message due date for March 1.

    Example, this Scheduling message for "Wednesday, January 17, 2024" was selected. This message will be sent to 01 SCHEDULING group on this date so they can contact the patient and get them scheduled for the Lab appointment around the 2/8/24 date.

    Click "OK" to close this message window.

    You will be returned to the Order Requisition, and you should see your message on the "Task" tab. Click "OK" to save all of your changes to this message. Your message will be forwarded to the future date you choose (2/8/24 in this example) The message will be sent to have the patient scheduled on the date you chose (1/17/24 in this example) Again, keep in mind if you ever need to find this message, you can go directly to the patient chart and find it.
