News Display component guide
Rutgers
This guide assumes there are already **Alternative Homepage** and **News: Landing** content types set up. The News Display component requires both these elements to function.
Create and populate these content types before adding a News Display.
From the Alternate Home content type, access the component menu by clicking the ellipsis icon in the Components section.
Select "News Display" from the menu
Populate the Title, News, and CTA sections of the News Display
The **News field** will look for a **News: Landing content type.** Without one available, this field cannot be populated.
**Identify and select the News: Landing page** you want associated with this News Display.
Save the page.
Note that the News Display is empty. This is expected behavior. The following steps will show you how to populate it.
**Use the News: Landing content type** to give instructions for what displays on the News Display for the homepage.
From the News: Landing CT:
Locate the "**Home Page Features**" section at the bottom of page
Set the Featured Lead story. This will be the largest and first story on your homepage News Display. Use the External or Internal content option of your choice.
You may have one featured lead on your page.
Use the Content field to query your CMS for available stories.
As you type, available choices that fit your query will appear in a pick list.
Next, set the **Featured News** story or stories. These stories will live underneath the featured lead story. Use the External or Internal content option of your choice.
**You may have multiple Featured News items on a homepage.**
Follow the same process as above for finding content to use as Featured News.
**Save your edits**. Then Navigate to your Homepage to see the News Display
Verify your content displays as you intend.
