    Direct versus Indirect Linking

In this example, you can see that the ‘% of tickets with direct routes’ Measure is directly linked to the ‘Airport Traffic (Milestone Roll Up)’ Initiative. Select **Scorecards & Elements** from the Control Panel\ Choose **Manage Elements**\ Open **Initiatives**\ Select the **Initiative** you are going to be working with, in this example, ‘Airport Traffic Study (Milestone Roll Up)’.\ You will find ‘% of tickets with direct routes’ under **Linked Objects**\ You will find the regular **Measure** icon, this means this **Element** is **directly Linked**
In this example, you can see that the ‘% of tickets with direct routes’ Measure is indirectly linked to the ‘Purchase 5 new planes’ Initiative. Select **Scorecards & Elements** from the Control Panel\ Choose **Manage Elements**\ Open **Initiatives**\ Select the **Initiative** you are going to be working with, in this example, ‘Purchase 5 new planes’.\ You will find ‘% of tickets with direct routes’ under **Linked Objects**\ You will notice that the **Measure** icon has inverted colors, this means this **Element** is **indirectly Linked**
Indirect Link occurs when independent Elements are linked to one particular Element\ \ In the examples above, '% of tickets with direct routes' and ‘Purchase 5 new planes’ Elements are Directly Linked to an Objective called 'Direct Routes'. At the same time this creates an Indirect Link between them.
