To access the Pitot Inspection Form template, navigate to the Controlled Documents on the General Server.
      2
Click the "Calibration Templates" folder under Stack Testing, and copy and paste "620.007 Pitot Inspection Form" to your computer.
      3
Enter the Pitot ID, dimensions, and visually inspect the tube openings for damage. Record the visual inspection using the dropdown menu.
      4
With calipers, measure and record the Pitot outer diameter (OD) along with the Distance to A Plane (Pa) and Distance to B Plane (Pb). Note the pass/fail criteria for Pa and Pb depend upon the outer diameter dimensions and will show "fail" until dimensions are entered that are within spec. This is Step 2 in the Calibration SOP under Section 7.2 Pitot Measurement Verifications.
      5
View the pitot from the end view and ensure that the face opening planes are perpendicular to the tube axis. Select yes or no from the dropdown menu. This is Step 3 in the Calibration SOP under Section 7.2 Pitot Measurement Verifications.
      6
While still viewing the pitot from the end view, determine the pitot face opening angle for both the A and B tubes using an angle finder. The face opening plane is acceptable if the A side (α1) and B side (α2) face opening angles are less than 10% off from the perpendicular. This is also Step 2 in the Calibration SOP under Section 7.2 Pitot Measurement Verifications.
      7
View the pitot from the side view and ensure the face opening planes are parallel to the longitudinal (horizontal) axis. Using an angle finder, determine the angle of the face opening plane. The face opening plane is acceptable if the A side (β1) and B side face (β1) opening angles are less than 5% off from the longitudinal axis. This is Step 4 in the Calibration SOP under Section 7.2 Pitot Measurement Verifications.
      8
View the pitot from the side view. Ensure that both legs of the pitot are of equal length. If one leg is longer, measure this distance (Z). Also check the centerlines are aligned when viewed from both sides (W). The pitots are considered acceptable if the pitot alignment (W) is less than or equal to 0.08 cm (1/32 in), and (Z) is less than or equal to 0.3175 cm (1/8 in). This is Step 5 in the Calibration SOP under Section 7.2 Pitot Measurement Verifications.

If all previous criteria passes, the calibration factor of 0.84 may be used for this pitot. Enter your initials and the date. Note: Data Quality will soon be updating this template to include a row for peer review. This check should be performed by someone Project Manager-level or above prior to submittal to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Save this spreadsheet in the appropriate office folder under \\SERVER\services\Stack Testing\Equipment\Calibrations\Pitot Tip, and email a copy to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Once the form has been confirmed to meet all SOP criteria, the Calibrations team will create a PDF version which will be saved in the Tech Services folder for incorporation into reports, as necessary. If criteria are not met, the Calibrations team will reply with a summary of findings to be corrected.
