    Start in the Sample company.

    To complete this exercise, you must be in the Sample company. From your QBOA account, click on the Gear icon on the top right corner of the screen, then select Sample company.

    Note that you will be logged out of your current account. If you are sure, click "Continue" to confirm.

    Entering the Bill

    The first step is to enter the bill.

    Click "+New".

    Click "Bill".

    You may need to close this pop-up.

    In the Vendor field, select "Books by Bessie".

    Leave the Terms and Bill date fields as is. In a real life scenario, you could adjust both, as needed.

    Note that QBO automatically populates the category and item details with information from the last bill you paid this vendor. Since this one is the same as last time ($75 of Legal & Professional Fees: Accounting), all you need to do is save it.

    Click the "down arrow" next to Save and schedule payment, then select "Save and close".

    Paying the Bill

    Next you need to pay the bill.

    Click "+New".

    Click "Pay bills".

    In the Payment account field, select "Checking". *The Payment date field can be left as is, but in a real life scenario, you would want to adjust this to the date the payment was made.*

    Click the "checkbox" next to Books by Bessie. *Note that the 75.00 is automatically populated by QBO.*

    Click the "down arrow" next to Save, then select "Save and close".
