    Report on Source Codes

      Even though there is a report titled "Source Codes Report", this is not the only way to view source codes in a report. Instead you must navigate to the report that corresponds to the outreach effort you want to gather data for. Commonly-used reports that include source codes are: - Contribution Report - Source Codes Report - Membership Report - Online Activity Report The image below shows where you can and cannot include source codes in reporting.

      In a Contribution Report

      Source codes in a CONTRIBUTION REPORT refer to the outreach effort that resulted in the financial gift. Click EDIT COLUMNS to add more information about source codes, like: - **Origin Source Code/Path:** how the contact first entered your database (see Special Source codes section), and the hierarchy (Path) - **Source Code Path:** the hierarchy the source code is within - **First Membership Source Code:** view the source code applied to a contact's first membership using EA's Membership Management feature

      Click APPLY to add these columns to your report.

      Add other data tracking fields your org uses in columns (like Channel and/or Campaign) or in the Group By search bar to further segment your data. For example, Group By: Campaign to segment results by campaigns applied to the source codes. Blank fields have no campaigns applied.\ \ *Note: In the example below, Campaign and Source Code have the same name.*

      In a Source Codes Report

      A SOURCE CODES REPORT shows you a list of all source codes and their associated tracking fields, if available. You can also see the number of contacts, contributions, pledges and recurring commitments a source code has been applied to in the right-hand columns.

      Add other data tracking fields your org uses in columns or use the Group By search bar to further segment your data. For example, Group By: Campaign to view all source codes linked to a given Campaign. Blank fields represent source codes that are not linked to a Campaign.

      In a Membership Report

      You can also view source codes in a MEMBERSHIP REPORT to track how you generate membership sign ups. Click EDIT COLUMNS to add source codes to a to view data on the following: - **Highest Amount Source:** the source code associated with the highest-ever contribution - **Most Recent Source:** the source code associated with the contact's most recent membership sign up - **Origin Source Code/Path:** the source code and hierarchy (Path) of how the contact first entered your database - **First Membership Source Code:** the source code associated with how the member first signed up

      Click APPLY to add these columns to your report.

      Some orgs have dues-paying memberships only, while other orgs include an option to sign up for a membership without paying dues. If your org has a no-cost dues set up, the above source codes will still generate results. For example, GROUP BY: Highest Amount Source also includes membership sign ups for $0.00.

      In an Online Activity Report

      Source codes in an ONLINE ACTIVITY REPORT refer to the outreach effort that generated the form submission.

      Source codes are unavailable in non-ticketed events reports and in email-related reports, except for Origin Source Code in an Email Performance Report.\ \ Use the Online Activity Report to view event form submissions and form submissions sent via email.

      Since source codes aren't available in reports for non-ticketed events, GROUP BY: Form Type to view source codes related to event sign ups.

      To view only results related to events, click EDIT FILTERS and filter by EVENT SIGNUP FORM under Form Type.

      Click RUN REPORT to apply this filter.

      Since source codes aren't available in email-related reporting, edit filters to view results related to email sends. Click SOURCE CODE and search for and add specific or all email-related source codes.
