As Salesforce is highly configurable, the layout of your system may not exactly match that in our example and details may be different based dependent on business need. But the components should look the same, so this guide should help, regardless of how your specific system is configured.

Highlights Panel

1
First, at the top, is the **Highlights Panel** - this has key information typically including job Title, Company and contact details, as well as the internal Contact Owner who is responsible for that Contact. You can only edit the Contact Owner field directly on this panel; to edit the other information you'll need to go to the **Details Tab**.
2
You can however change the Contact Owner of the record in the **Highlights Panel**. Click on the person icon.
3
Select the New Contact Owner
4
Click "Change Owner" and the Contact Owner will be updated

Details Tab

5
To edit other fields, click on the **Details** tab
6
The **Details** tab shows core information about your Contact such as contact details, department and reporting structure.
7
Any **Field** with the Pencil Icon is available for editing. For example, to update the "Title", click on the Pencil Icon
8
Make your Edits in the relevant Field(s) and click "Save"
9
The job Title is then updated in the **Highlights Panel**.

Create an Organisation Structure

10
A neat function, is the ability to create an **Organisation Structure**. Ensure the "*Reports to*" field in the Details tab is populated on each of your Contacts. If this is done consistently, then clicking on the **Hierarchy Icon** in the Highlights Panel.
11
We can then see the reporting structure of the business. Here, our Contact Sean Forbes reports to Claire Emery....
12
....and we can drill further into those reporting to Sean by clicking the arrow next to his name.
13
Then we see Rose Gonzalez reporting into Sean. To return to the Contact record, just click on his name.

Related Lists

14
A key feature of Salesforce is the ability to show Records from other Objects. These are called **Related Lists** and are shown on the **Related** tab. In this example our Contact has 1 Related Opportunity and 2 Related Cases. It is then easy to view these records in more detail by clicking on the Hyperlinked Opportunity or Case names.
