Showit Accessibility: Headings

This guide provides essential steps for checking and enhancing the accessibility of headings in Showit, ensuring your page is user-friendly for all visitors. Viewing this guide will help you create a more inclusive online presence for search engines and screen reader users. We'll be using Chrome, a free Chrome extension, called Silktide, and Showit.

Navigate to your website (here's my[demo page](https://brandgirlsdemo.com/podcast))

Click on the Silktide Extension

Choose Headings

Evaluate the Headings structure. It should reveal an outline of your content with H1 the main topic, H2 the subtopics that equally support the H1, H3 the support for the subtopics. (Although there are 6 heading level, Showit only includes 3). If the structure is correct, great! If not, continue.

Open a new tab, log into Showit

Navigate to the Canvas that needs to be changed (in this case the "Podcast" in the "Site" tab)

Click on the Heading to be updated

Click the "Text Tag" in the Text Properties panel

Choose the correct Heading level (in this case, "h2")

Repeat until complete

Click "Publish"

Click "Close"

Switch to tab with your website and refresh

Choose Headings
