Navigate to [https://openrouter.ai/](https://openrouter.ai/)

Click "Sign in"

Click "Sign up"

Use Gmail, MetaMask or sign up with your email

Click "CONTINUE"

Click the menu button here.

Click "Keys"

Click "Create Key"

Give your key a name

Add in a limit you are willing to spend, don't worry you won't be charged on free models or even paid models won't charge unless you buy credits.

Click "Create"

Click this button to copy your key, add it to a password manager or local text document as you can only see it once.

Switch to tab "SillyTavern"

Click the API settings button.

Click this API dropdown and select text completion.

Click this API Type dropdown and select OpenRouter

Click the "✔️ Key saved" field and paste in your key

Click "Authorize"

It may ask again for a credit limit.

Click "Authorize"

Click the API settings again.

Choose your model.

Free models will have Free at the end of the model name. Paid models will show the token cost.

Type "aqua"

Load a character
