Duplicating Sections

This guide provides a step-by-step process for duplicating sections from the Under 10k site to a new one, ensuring a seamless transition of content. It highlights the importance of managing modules and page assignments effectively, which is crucial for maintaining site functionality.

Now that all of the new site modules have been built, we can build out the sections. Each section build will access this inventory of modules to choose from. Started with **Modules**\ Now building the **Sections <----**\ then **Pages** Module > **Section** > Page

Section elements:\ **1, 2, 3** will be copied over to the new site section.\ **4** is determined at Layout Management level.\ **5 Page Assignment** is for specific Sections that are *limited to a particular page type*.

Start with the **Under 10k Site**. *This is where we will copy all of the sections from.* ***Note: Do not copy section names marked as “Do Not Copy.”*** Navigate to <https://under10k-on-basegst.runmytests.com/>\ In the Admin Helper - select: **Themes and Pages for this site**

*[[Under 10k Site]]*\ Click on "**Sections**"\ *All of the 10k Site modules have been copied over to the new site.*\ *Now all of the 10k Template sections need to be copied over to the new site.*

*[[Under 10k Site]]*\ Click on the section "**Copy - (Section 10a)**" *(We are using the filter to find an example section)*

New Site Content

Switch to the **New Site** that is being built.

*[[New Site]]*\ **Page Restrictions** - Some Sections are restricted for use only on a specific page type. *When copying the Section from the 10k template, make a note if it is has a **Page Assignment**.*

*[[New Site]]*\ Click the "Name" field.\ Enter **"Copy - (Section 10a)**" *Remember the 10k Site **#1***

*[[New Site]]*\ Click the "Identifier" field.\ Enter **"section-10a**" *Remember the 10k Site **#2***

*[[New Site]]*\ Select Type "**Custom HTML**" in the dropdown *Remember the 10k Site Module "**Custom HTML**" underlined in red*

*[[New Site]]*\ Select Name "**Section 10 - Intro Text**" in the dropdown *Remember the 10k Site Module name*

*[[New Site]]*\ Click "**Add Module**"

*[[New Site]]*\ *This Section only has one module.* \ *We would add more modules if the design requires them.*\ *Now update the thumbnail.*

*[[New Site]]*\ Copy the image path from the 10k Template Section.\ Click the "**Preview Image Path**" field and update.\ *Verify that the placeholder image shows in the small gray placeholder square.*

*[[New Site]]*\ Click on "**Sections**"\ You can now see "**Copy - (Section 10a)**" in the Section inventory

*[[New Site]]*\ Continue to copy over **ALL** of the sections from the **10k Site**, before proceeding with the next step. ***Note: Do not copy section names marked as “Do Not Copy.”***

*[[New Site]]*\ Verify the Section: **Page Restrictions**

*[[New Site]]*\ Verify Section Page Restrictions list:\ **Search Results - (Section 6a)\ Job Location Map - (Section 9a)\ Job Details - (Section 7b)\ Job Alert - (Section 37a)\ Job Details - (Section 7a)**

*[[New Site]]* Go to "**Preview Site**"\ Click on "**Preview**" to push the updated content.

***[[New Site]]***\ **Unpublish** and **Delete** all five of the **Default Sections**.

*[[New Site]]*\ Click "**Preview Site**" and select "**Unpublish**".

*[[New Site]]*\ Click "**Delete Section**".

***[[New Site]]***\ Continue to delete the other four "**Default"** Sections.
