    Switch Command & Control Keys for an External Keyboard on Macs

      Open system preferences and click "Keyboard"

      Click the Keyboard Shortcuts… button

      Click the Modifier Keys button

      Tip! Make sure you see the correct keyboard selected in the top right of this screen. For example, here it says, "USB DEVICE" for the external keyboard we're using.

      You need to switch option and command. So click the dropdown next to option and choose command.
