**Key Uses of Task Types:**

- Fee Line Item Categories: Used in Job Estimates and Client Invoices.\
  Cost Line Item Categories: Applied to Job Estimates, Purchase Orders, Expense Claims, Credit Card Transactions, and Supplier Invoices.

To manage Task Types, navigate to **Master Files &gt; Task Types**. This will take you to the **Search Task Types** page.

#### **Search and Filtering**

- Use filters to search Task Types based on various criteria.
- To include inactive Task Types in the search results, select the **Show Inactive?** checkbox.

#### **Key Actions**

From the **Search Task Types** page, you can:

- **Create a New Task Type**
- **Customize Columns Layout**
- **Mark a Task Type as Inactive**
- **Delete a Task Type**

#### **Additional Options**

At the top of the **Search Task Types** page, you can access:

- **Audit Trail Reports** – View historical changes to Task Types.
- **Office Billable Rates Setup** – Configure billing rates per office.
- **Other Charges Setup** – Define additional charges related to Task Types.
- **Headings Management** – Organize Task Types with headings and sub-headings.

#### To review or edit a Task Type, click on the **Task Type Code hyperlink** in the search results.

#### **Job Types**

For **Job-related transactions**, a **Task Type must be mapped to a Job Type** to be available for selection.

- When creating a new Task Type, the system will prompt you to map it to one or more Job Types.
- To review and export existing mappings, go to **Jobs &gt; Jobs** and click on the **Job Types** hyperlink.

#### **Headings and Sub-Headings**

Task Types can be organized using **Headings** and **Sub-Headings** to improve structure and reporting.

**Titles**

Before creating Task Types, it is recommended to define **Titles** in the **Employees Master File**.

- You can set a **Default Title** for **Time Charge Task Types** during creation.
- Task Types can be restricted to specific Titles.\

- Task Types can be assigned to specific **Departments**.
- This assignment is required for **Department Utilization** and **Revenue by Department Reporting**.
