    **Use case:** [[RSS ]]sessions, conferences, BCH Teaching Academy sessions, other live sessions. **Description:** When a LIVE course/session is set up for texting attendance, attendees are provided a session code at the event, and a phone number to the code to. When the code is sent to the number, the system looks up the associated user in the database. If there is no associated user, or if there are duplicate users with the same phone number, the system will send an error message to the attendee. For valid phone numbers, the system the profession in the user's profile against the credits that have been set up for the course/session. If there is a mismatch, there system will send an error to the attendee. Any available credit type and amount that matches the attendee profile will be added to the attendee's transcript. **Note:** The attendance texting system is independent of LearnDash course enrollment. The course will not show up in the attendees course list because texting does not technically enroll the attendee in the course, it only communicates attendance to the transcript.

    Steps for establishing a course that attendees can text their attendance to. \ \ Note: a course title must be added and the course published to enable texting attendance for this session.

    Under the dashboard tab, scroll down to find the link to add new credit type. Select the credit type from the drop down and add the amount of credits to be awarded for attending the session. Note that the credit type must map to a specific profession. For example, it is not enough to select "contact hours." Selecting Contact Hours (Nurse) will only award credits to the attendee if they have "Nurse" in the profile. If they only have "Nurse Anesthetist" in their profile and the course is not set up for "Contact Hours (Nurse Anesthetist)", a Nurse Anesthetist will not be awarded credit.\ \ Select the course type:\ No text attendance for a standard online course \ Single session for on-off live course\ Multiple sessions single code for a recurring session where the same code can be used to text attendance for every session\ Multiple sessions multiple codes for a recurring session where each session has a unique code associated with it.

    If the course has recurring sessions, check "This is a recurring session," then select the recurrence frequency.

    Select the frequency of recurrence. Note that unique dates can be established for multiple sessions that take place on a non-regular basis.

    Session start and end times define the hours within which texts may be sent. As a general rule, attendees should have the entire day of the session to send a text, so end times should be set to 11:59pm.

    Once the course is saved/published, select the session code button to view the code or codes that attendees text at the time of the session.
