Three Ways to Attach a Document into An Asana Task

    Option 1- Attach From OneDrive/SharePoint

    1
    Select the details carrot.
    2
Click this icon for attachment options.
    3
    Click "OneDrive/SharePoint"
    4
Select the document you would like to attach.
    5
    Click "Select"
    6
When you scroll to the bottom of the details bar for that task, you will see the document attached. You will also see the attachment in the task actions log.
    7
If you click the options carrot next to that document you can either delete the attachment or request approval from another Asana user.
    8
Attaching a document this way creates a link back to your OneDrive or SharePoint so the document in Asana will update as you update it in OneDrive or SharePoint.

Option 2- Attach a Document from Computer Files

    9
Click the details carrot next to the task where you would like to attach the document.
    10
Click the paperclip symbol for attachment options.
    11
    Click "Your Computer"
    12
Select which document you would like to add and click attach. Attaching a document this way will cause the document to show at the bottom of the task and in the task action log. However, this type of attachment will not update as changes are made to the computer file.

Option 3- Attaching a Document Using a Share Link

    13
Click the detail carrot to open the details bar for the task you would like to add the attachment to.
    14
Copy the hyperlink you plan to use. In this example, we copied the link for a word document using the share drop down in the upper right hand corner.
    15
Now return to Asana and scroll down to the description box for the task where you would like to attach the hyperlink.
    16
You can either directly paste the link or you can type new text, highlight it, and then use the hyperlink button on the tool bar to attach the link. The hyperlink symbol is outlined in red for this example.
    17
Notice, attaching a link this way does not attach the actual document as we saw with the first two options. It also does not show the attachment in the task action log. The link will only show if you open the details bar and scroll down to the description.
